Ghosted, by Rosie Walsh
Captivating from page one
Great mystery, but easy to follow
A twist you won’t see coming
4 Stars
When I first read the synopsis on the back, I was unimpressed and almost put the book back on the shelf. The only reason I bought it was because the cover had a quote from Liane Moriarty, “I absolutely loved this book and didn’t want it to end.” And if an author who writes the way she does, didn’t want a book to end - I had to see what it was about.
And, I agree. This felt like season one of a mystery thriller Netflix binge and I closed the book a little out of breath. In the line of Liane Moriarty, for any fans of Big Litle Lies - Go get this book!!!
The jumps between present day and letters that are being written to and signed by people that aren't immediately identifiable. This keeps you not only guessing the ending, but guessing who's secrets are in which letters.
Sarah's character got on my nerves at times, but I also found her very realistic. Like the title, to be ghosted by someone you thought you had a connection with, can make you seek answers. While this shows the extreme case of that, I thought her obsessive way of looking at everything was understandable.
I recommend this book to people who enjoyed and of the following books shows movies - check this book out! Big Little Lies, Dead to Me, The Guest List, or The Sinner - the mystery thrillers with a twist!
My Synopsis: Sarah and Eddie run into each other an a random afternoon, and end up spending a wonderful week together. They plan to meet up after a vacation, but Eddie suddenly stops responding to all communications and disappears from Sarah's life. She's left distraught, they had a true connection and understanding beyond anything she's ever felt. As she tries to track him down, she begins to hypothesize why Eddie may have disappeared.
