Thanks so much for UpLit Reads for letting me be a part of this campaign!
This was an adorable read to roll into the hot days of summer with. I could clearly picture Nantucket and water and the quirky interactions of Louisa throughout the book.
I loved Louisa’s quirky determination for everything throughout the book. Her approach to work, friends, and the love interest Cody is easy to get caught up in. Especially with the slight air of mystery surrounding her and Cody’s past.
I found it incredibly endearing the way that Louisa and Cody handled everything that happened with Maggie. It felt so real and honest, in the way that these family and almost-family things play out. And since I have a few very stubborn family members, Maggie’s lifestyle and illness in her older age really hit home too. I could see every smirk and hand-waving “no big deal” motion as if this was playing out in front of me.
This book was started on a sunny afternoon at home, and finished on a plane heading for vacation. The imagery of Louisa’s event planning, the ocean breeze and the closing chapters’ sunset - if I hadn’t felt the summer vibe before I certainly felt it after reading this book!
My Synopsis: Twelve years ago, Cody Boggs and Louisa Chambers made a pact that no matter where their lives took them, they'd return to Nantucket Island's Brant Point Lighthouse on July 30, their shared golden birthday, and continue their tradition of exchanging birthday wishes. But that was before a tragic accident upended both of their lives, irrevocably pulling them apart.
12 years later and they both find themselves back in Nantucket wrapped up in family matters and the Coast Guards’ PR nightmare. Wondering if they can overcome their own insecurities, family drama, and tragedy for their golden birthday promise.
