The Cake Therapist, by Judith Fertig

  • Pairs well with cupcakes and coffee

  • Hallmark movie vibes

  • The perfect break in your day

  • 3 stars

For those who enjoy snacking and coffee while they read, this book is the perfect "pairs well with" for that!

The author is a chef and you can feel the bakery and Food Network atmosphere from the writing in nearly every page. The Lost Apothecary meets Hallmark Channel in this cozy little novel, that makes you crave a cupcake haha

I really enjoyed how easy it was to fall into this story. If you love the holiday shows, movies, books but don't want the snow - Fertig has you covered. The conversations, easy to follow alternating time periods, and a fun talent by Neely to understand the 'tastes' and flavors of feelings you can enjoy a break from reality anytime in these pages.

My Synopsis: Neely can "taste" feelings and knows what needs to be paired with any given emotion for the most comfort and best day. her ability to connect with people as she requaints with her small town is charming. So when she starts to be overcome by a flavor she can't quite place, a complicated story from another time, she struggles to understand it all. With that and a looming past love in and out of the picture, the simple life back at home is anything but for Neely.
