The Guest List, by Lucy Foley
Spooky setting
Thoughtful, developed characters
Twisted ending
You will not see it coming
If you enjoy the multiple POVs in books or movies, this is the book for you. And don’t bother thinking you have a clue as to this ending.
While I was bored in the first couple chapters - as a mood reader I put it down a couple times for a week or so - then halfway through I almost started taking notes and trying to get to the bottom of it all. Firstly I was trying to figure out who even got murdered - the victim also wasn’t who I expected!
The characters Hannah and Olivia really resonated with me. Hannah, a plus one, wife of the Bride’s best friend. Olivia, little sister of the bride. Through their chapters you dive into the insecurities I think so many feel when we’re in a new crowd and at a high stress event like someone’s wedding.
They both bring their baggage to the island, deep secrets intertwined with unspoken truths about those closest to them. Both women are reminders, if nothing else, to be kind to everyone as you never know what they’re going through.

I highly recommend this Foley novel, 4 stars. I finished while curled up on the couch on a rainy day wondering if you can ever truly know anyone.
If you have read and I won’t spoil the ending for you - please let me know! I wish I could’ve talked about this one at a book club!
My Synopsis: A wedding on an island off the coast of Ireland, on a ‘dark and stormy’ weekend. Guests make their way from across the water and try to get comfortable on the island and meet one another. You see multiple POV as they share their inner feelings of those around them, including the wedding planner. The weekend weather, a search party, and confessions from every guest will keep you guessing until the last sentence.
